About Grinding Specialties, Inc.
Grinding Specialties, Inc. was started in 1980 by owner Mike Edgmon. Mike, a native Texan, worked in aerospace, tool & die, oil field components, and defense/munitions in the Dallas/Fort Worth area prior to opening GSI. The first location was in the suburb of Grand Prairie, Texas.
By 1986, GSI needed more floor space and moved to our current location in Dallas. GSI started out with one Cincinnati Centerless Grinder and added an Eldorado Gun Drill the next year. Over the years, we have grown to include nine centerless grinders, seven gun drilling machines, four honing machines, five lathes, milling machines, and numerous other support equipment. Mike’s business philosophy has always been to exceed the customer’s expectations.
We strive every day to please our customers with timely delivery and quality that is first rate. Mike is very involved in day to day operations, making sure that quality is maintained and jobs are on schedule. We have been fortunate to assemble a group of very good employees that make it possible for GSI to meet our customers' demands.
All of us are innovative, creative, and enjoy the challenges of manufacturing. We use the “Team” approach when it comes to planning and problem solving. We routinely design and build tooling, and fixtures, to allow us to complete some of those challenging jobs that come our way on a daily basis. All of us work hard to make improvements in production, quality control, management, and planning for the future.
